FVMT Employs First All Stars Mentor
January 15, 2010
Northeast Wisconsin Manufacturing Alliance has published its second annual manufacturing All Stars magazine. The publication comes out once a year and features All Star employees from various manufacturing companies. A panel of judges assembled by NEW Manufacturing Alliance chooses the award’s recipients. The judges look for workers who illustrate the new generation of manufacturing workers that recognize the challenges, advancements, and rewards of their job.
The NEW Manufacturing Alliance is a group made up of manufacturers, workforce development boards, chambers of commerce, and state organizations. The alliance works with educational institutions to promote manufacturing in the northeast Wisconsin region. The primary objective of NEW Manufacturing Alliance is to unite manufacturers in the northeast Wisconsin region and strengthen them in growth opportunities. The group also focuses on promoting a positive outlook of manufacturing jobs and promoting the potential of the career to students and parents. Fox Valley Metal-Tech., Inc. is a proud member of this alliance.
The magazine, similar to last year’s All Star publication, featured 11 employees. This year, however, a new title was added for one special manufacturer: the first All Star Mentor award. The honorable title was attributed to none other than Tim Dyer, the Shop Floor Supervisor of Fox Valley Metal-Tech., Inc. Tim has the tasks of overseeing second shift production, training employees, and searching for continuous improvements. To prepare for this he attended supervisor communication classes and also received on-the-job training by previous mentors in 2005 when he first joined the FVMT team.
An article regarding the new award was published in the 2010 All Stars edition (New Manufacturing All Stars 2010
) based on an interview held with Tim Dyer and Kelly Foth, Fox Valley Metal-Tech., Inc.’s human resource manager. Kelly discussed Tim’s outstanding communication skills and his tendency to go out of his way to help his coworkers. Tim confirmed this when he said, “We’re really trying to share our knowledge so that everyone here can be as successful as possible, which will make all of us more successful.” The article made is easy to see that Tim enjoys helping others, taking on new challenges, and the rewards of a factory job. A video
about Tim is also available on YouTube. Tim’s FVMT family is very proud of their All Star.
