Why FVMT's Dynamic Waterjet?

  • Provides Straight Edges. The tilting cutting head and innovative software ensures straight edges and good edge finish.
  • Tight Tolerances and Geometry. Waterjet software "thinks ahead" as parts are cut, calculating optimal cutting path to produce perfect geometry and tight tolerances. No secondary finishing required. Deburring or machining operations can often be eliminated or reduced due to exceptional cut quality.
  • 50-400% Faster. The tilting head on FVMT's waterjet allows cutting to be performed much faster than conventional waterjets.
  • Thicker and Larger Materials. The work table is 6' x 12' and will accept materials up to 6" thick.
  • Can Safely Cut Exotic Materials. Numerous metal and non-metal materials can be cut including stainless steel, aluminum, bronze, copper, titanium, composites, etc.

How it Works

Fox Valley Metal Tech (FVMT) installed a dynamic waterjet to eliminate the errors and flaws that conventional waterjets possess. FVMT's dynamic waterjet no longer remains stagnant at a 90-degree angle to the plane of a flat plate, but tilts automatically as required depending on the material and part. The waterjet software "thinks ahead" as parts are cut, calculating optimal cutting path and contact angle of the jet to produce perfect geometry. Dynamic waterjet virtually eliminates stream lag and edge taper while improving edge finish and cutting speeds. Edge taper is eliminated because the waterjet cutting head is tilted to take all the taper off the "good side" of the part. Inside corners are improved because the entrance angle and exit point are altered to ensure the stream does whatever is required to produce an accurate corner with minimal speed reduction.
